IIRC, they were AL NG guys and they had proper USGI M2 ball. We were hurting for .30 caliber DMR’s, especially in Trashcanistan. Im suprised nobody raided the stash of T48′s in Quantico and started issuing them… TaylorWSO [Life Member] 6/23/2010 11:15:47 AM Originally Posted By XM287: Trashcanistan. where in afganistan?

If you want the best then go Mesa. the recoil reduction systems are totally different so it is hard to compare the stocks. I find the transistion of the weapon through the firing stage is a lot smoother with the Endine buffer then with the simple two spring system of the SpecOps. The one issue that may help you decide is that the Mesa has to fired from the shoulder to receive any recoild reduction as the Endine buffer is in the stock tube. The SpecOps has to two springs, the main one is in the pistol grip so you still get the benifit of recoil reduction when shooting from the hip. The reasons cited are on point and why I went with the Knoxx SpecOps. I added the Knoxx PowerPac (side saddle, high cheek weld) and a Pachmayr GripAll to finish off the stock. I do have one Mesa Tactical piece; their one point sling ring, works great. For the sight a NC Star ; red/ green, 3 brightness levels and 4 different reticles. Yeah, I know NC star is at the bottom of the list, but the wife bought it being nice and I actually like it alot. For $60 what the hell. She likes it and it is the house HD gun which she also shoots. I couldnt be happier with the Knoxx and left a few extra dollars for other toys. Scott66black 4/9/2010 10:44:41 PM +1 on the Mesa/Endine unit , it does cost more but it works oh so good. Makes 3inch magnum slugs feel like your shooting cotton balls out of the thing Depidy_Dawg 4/9/2010 11:35:40 PM I don’t know about the Mesa units, but I like them. My buddy and fellow deputy bought a Knoxx stock from Sportsman’s Guide for under 85 bucks, so the price was great! Shooting that thing is a dream, but the pistol grip is a bit on the large size to be able to accomodate the spring. I like the poster who put a grip sleeve on it, good idea, as the plastic on the Knoxx is slick. I just got a Mossy 590A1 with the 8 shot mag tube. I don’t like the factory pistol grip set up, so I’m leaning towards the Knoxx for mine and the cheek pad and 5 shot holders as I feel that will balance out the nose heaviness of the 590A1. Installing the Knoxx is a breeze and my buddy swears by it. Again, if you have small hands the grip my be a bit on the largeish side for you.

The reason I like the Mesa is because you can get a Hogue grip on it. You’ll recall that near the end of this season’s “Top Shot” they were using a Salient Arms International Benelli M2 Accessories with a nice, long mag extension. I don’t re reading about or seeing ATF kicking down anyone’s doors for that… true, but its better to be safe than sorry. I’ll be the first to say that the ATF is an unconstitutional branch of government.. unfortunately we’ve strayed far from our founding fathers intent.. and this what we have stooped to. I believe the following quote summs up how we got to be where we are as far as our gun rights: “This will be the best security for maintaining our liberties. A nation of well-informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the religion of ignorance that tyranny begins.” Benjamin Franklin. leid 5/5/2011 11:30:52 AM Originally Posted By MDracer76: Originally Posted By leid: MDracer76, Thanks for the actual LOP measurement. Also, how did the Urbino fit your Benelli M2 Accessories especially in the trigger area? IIRC, the Urbino for the M4 was tight in the trigger area. Mesa said they would have to modify the M4 mold design slightly sometime in the future. TIA! Carey I did quite a bit of training with the shotgun before I shot a 3 gun with it. Maybe it’s my short arms.. but I feel that its actually perfect. I felt like the original stock was a bit long. When I shoulder the gun the sights are right where I need them :)

Any problem with the smaller diameter sight picture? Do you notice a difference with the polarized filter on the last two ARs you posted? have you tried the RX30? any preference between the two? TheOtherDave6/15/2011 2:26:33 AM I’ve had Trijicon Reflex 2′s and the RX30 that Trijicon is making now. I think the smaller Reflex’s work well but they aren’t nearly as bright as the RX30. The smaller FOV is an issue if you are a professional door kicker, but mine isn’t too much an issue to me-I’ve had one on my SHTF rifle for over a decade-three in total. Now, the RX30 is a much larger sight, it isn’t even the same animal as the Trijicon Reflex 2′s-several orders of magnitude better. Sometimes too bright outdoors so lots of guys cover the light pipe with electrical tape. Same thing for the microTrijicon RMR sights-the dual illuminated version is the brightest that Trijicon makes and it’s too bright when outside for most. jncryer6/15/2011 8:18:46 AM TheOtherDave: I’ve had Trijicon Reflex 2′s and the RX30 that Trijicon is making now. Aimpoint CompM2

The Aimpoint Compm2, also known as the M68/CCO (when used by U.S. forces), is the standard sight for the U.S. Army, the U.S. Air Force, and the armed forces of many NATO countries.

Designed for extreme conditions – submersible to 25 meters

The Aimpoint CompM2 is ready for use around the clock due to its compatibility with all generations of night vision devices (NVD)

When the Aimpoint Scopes Compm2 was released, it became the benchmark against which all other combat optics are measured. While primarily utilized by armed forces, the CompM2 is also available to hunters and sport shooters who want a professional-grade sight.

Holds up under the roughest physical handling and can withstand the most severe weather conditions and temperatures

Completely submersible and will withstand pressures up to 2.5 atmospheres allowing it to be taken up to 80 feet (25 meters) under water.

1/22/2004 4:01:11 AM Ghostface. Your correct HK mags would be a far better option than FAL mags. I pulled the bolt assembly from My 10 awhile ago and checked clearance. The opening between the feedlips on the HK mags would need opened a little for the bottom of the carrier to clear. As far as FAL mags in a 10 I believe they’d have to go to a 3-4 lug rotating bolt to do away with the lower center locking lug on the barrel extension, even then I have my doubts. Armalite took the best approach to the problem at the time with M 14 mags. I have no complaints with the way my 308 DPMS shoots. I do have a problem(s) with their plastic magazines though. They should have went with a good 10 round steel magazine instead of the junk plastic mag. They coulda contracted the steel mags out to a job shop for a few extra bucks and had a far better product than the disposible $29.00 plastic 308 mags. Lets face it if PRO MAG can market a 10 rnd.AR15mag for $14.00 DPMS coulda contacted them for a $30.00 308 mag!

One of my biggest beefs with the orginial Trijicon Trijicon Reflex is that the dot would washout when using a flashlight in the dark. Something about the dark to light transition. A flashlight indoors can get washed out. There are people working on that. chewbacca6/16/2011 2:40:37 PM Been there done that with both. TheEotechis far superior in my opinion because I can’t stand the blue tint, washout, and small FOV of the reflex. Cryptyc6/16/2011 2:50:16 PM I absolutely love the Eotech. I regret that I don’t have the mako or triji to do a direct comparison for you but myEotechhas been amazing and I highly recommend it for any shooter. magicstop6/16/2011 2:52:53 PM I just wanted to help out your considerations a bit by showing you some pricing that you may not have seen. Trijicon RX30 for $350 here: RX30 That would make it less than yourEotechoption, if you are good with the 6.5 moa amber reticle. There are other reticle options for a bit more money to be had elsewhere. Also, you said you like Aimpoint, but don’t want to spend a lot of money to get them mounted. You should REALLY consider the aimpoint PRO. It’s got basically the same specs as the CompM3, and it comes WITH a mount, all for usually $400 – $420. This is a super good deal, and nets you a really nice aimpoint for a price that is comparable or better than a lot of the EOTechs. Finally, if you are worried about theEotechbattery problems, consider one of the XPS or EXPS lines. The batteries are transversely mounted, eliminated the problems the others experience, they’re lighter, and you can get one for a great price. ETA: aimpoint PRO for $410 here: Palmetto State That’s a sick deal, and is again, a mounted, top notch Aimpoint. I’d suggest that if you’re interested in Aimpoint. Greg36/16/2011 8:34:00 PM I had the RX01 w/12 MOA triangle on my Colt R0635 subgun and it was a perfect match for it and myself. Of course it was on the foward handle mount like above. I had it for about 12yrs and it was as bright as the day I got it. I traded it off to a newEotech512. I kept the 512 on my M4 flattop for years and now it lives on my MSAR STG556. Never a problem with the 512 and I have had it for 10yrs now. The only think I didn’t like about the Trijicon was the washout. I had to keep the filter on it all of the time. Other than that it was a kick ass little sight.

Lower 1/3rd means the irons cowitness through the bottom 1/3rd of the optic leaving the top 2/3s unobstructed. Absolute means the irons are centered in the tube or the window. The actual dot has nothing to do with the cowitness position. If zeroed at the same distance the dot should sit on top of the front sight post when you are looking through the irons. Otherwise it will appear in different areas of the tube depending on the angle.

Clint-M:
I’m really interested to hear if anyone has some sort of a more in-depth comparison of the two also. I’m pretty well set in the rifle department but I don’t own a complete LaRue Tactical so I’ve been waiting for one to become more appealing than the next before I put in an order for one. Of course I’m also waiting for range day so I can get my hands on complete rifles because all of the guys I shoot with are broke college students like me so I don’t know anyone with a complete rifle.
